Bypass capacitor for TNY290PG

I saw for TNY290PG bypass capacitor on BP/M pin (0.1uF) is an through hole ceramic capacitor in the design application notes. It is RPER71H104K2K1A03B from murata.
Can you tell me why I need to use this kind of capacitor can I just SMT MLCC (0603)?
You can use 0603 0.1uF BP/M Capacitor.
