LNK3204D Turn to auto-restart when switch to LOAD ON.

Posted by: kash on

Hi, Need your support & advice

My design with Linkswitch-TN2 LNK3204D No Neutral wire application.
Actually, my design is wireless switch with input universal AC 90-240V and 5Vdc (1amp) 5Watt output.
This is Live only wire and no neutral or ground wire concept.

The issue is when I start to turn ON the load my unit turn into Auto-Restart.
Please advice how to solve the issue.

Hi kash,
Are you able to obtain your desired 5V 1A output when not configuring the input as 'no neutral or ground wire'? That is, when the AC1 and AC2 of BR1 is connected to Line and Neutral and the output load is across C7? This will help us isolate if the issue is with the PSU itself or if it is with the 'no neutral or ground wire' configuration.

Yes, I can obtained 5Vdc output and convert to 3.3v for MCU thru LDO.. but output current is very low about 55mA only before come to LDO.
Any suggestion?

Hi kash,
Is R1 really 100k? The circuit might need more power to turn on the SSR. You can check the input or output voltages, i.e. across C1 and C7, if it dips when the load is turned on.

Value R1 i have change to 50k but VR1 still become heat and smoke.
Any value i need to tune example C1,R7,R9 or R12?

Hi kash,
This circuit is similar to DER-832. Maybe we should try shorting out L1 as it seems it is 'interfering' with the input current shaping. Please see link below.

Tips are also included in Appendix A for proper sizing of VR1 and R1. It would be key to know how much power the circuit is actually consuming when fully ON.
