Secondary side chip supply for inn3765c

Posted by: treez on

Hi,

The INN3675C has a  VOUT pin and a BPS pin.....both are siad to supply the chip, but which one is the main one?...Also, i have a 24vout....so do i have to feed  VOUT pin  from an R/NPN/Zener regulator just in case in transient, it goes over 27V?

Hi treez,

The InnoSwitch3-EP has a secondary side controller that is powered through the BPS pin. This pin is supplied through either the VOUT pin or the FWD pin. The VOUT pin supplies the BPS pin whenever the output voltage is greater than the BPS voltage (typically 4.4 V). Otherwise, FWD pin will supply the BPS pin.

Regarding your question about the output overvoltage, the design guide for InnoSwitch3 devices (AN-72) provides multiple solutions to protect the device in the event of an output overvoltage. The image below provides output OV protection on the primary side using the BPP pin or the secondary side using the BPS pin.

I've attached the file for the AN-72 design guide and the datasheet for INN3675 (InnoSwitch3-EP).

Thank you for using the PI Forum.
