Design Example Unboxing - DER-1038 - 100 W Ultra-Slim LED Driver Featuring 750 V PowiGaN
This design showcases the benefits of InnoSwitch4-QR flyback switcher ICs in a slim, 100 W LED driver board for LED strip lights and linear luminaires. This no-heatsink design realizes higher than 92% efficiency with just 62 components and a low, 16 mm profile. InnoSwitch4-QR devices combine the primary controller, a 750 V PowiGaN switch, FluxLink feedback, SR driver, and secondary controller in a compact 24-pin low-profile package. They enable an easy-to-design flyback power stage, eliminating the need for complex half-bridge LLC implementations.
The front-end power factor correction (PFC) stage features a HiperPFS-4 device that achieves higher than 0.95 power factor and lower than 10% total harmonic distortion (THD) across the AC line.
