Welder Power Supply
I am a retired electrician with a strong background in electronics and enjoy repairing equipment I’m not a design engineer but enjoy reverse engineering to identify problems. I’m repairing a Lincoln MP210 welder circuit board and having trouble identifying a faulted Power Integrations component in the TOP 264-271 family. It is in the ESIP-7C package vertically mounted to a heat sink to PCB. It is marked TOP26XEG with damage to the area of the “X” numeral except for a curve at the top indicating possible 6,8 or 9. The input voltage is 85vac to 265vac which rules out the 8 making my choices TOP269EG or TOP266EG with output voltages of 19vdc or 12vdc respectively. The output is connected to a Feryster M25300 impulse transformer which I can’t find a product data sheet for which sometimes shows related semiconductor products. The service manual for this welder indicates this power supply provides 24, 15,5 and 3.3vdc to various components. I realize this is a long shot but was hoping someone may be able to steer me towards choosing the 266 or 269 switcher. I have attached a magnified image of the damaged component part number.

Thanks for posting this in our forum. We may generalize probably on your power level. Please refer to page 2 of the datasheet for the output power table.

Hi Emily, sorry for my late reply , I have put this repair project on hold for now but have decided to use the TOP266EG. The damaged numeral in the original part number appears to have areas of dark color more in line with a “6”. The 266 and 269 both have similar characteristics with exception of output watts and voltage. I’ve identified some other damaged components on the welder circuit board and have those ordered. Thanks for your inquiry and I will update if I can complete the repair.
