Two transistor forward: DER484 and DER472 dont adjust output inductor conduction loss for skin effect...why not?

Posted by: treez on

Hi,
DER484 and DER472 both concern design of two transistor forwards.
Each calculates the conduction loss for the output inductor.
However, neither document makes any adjustment for skin effect.
Why is this?
Both documents calculate the output inductor winding conduction loss from only the DC resistance of the coil.
The attached excel document shows this.

Well, there's not a whole lot of high frequency content in the choke current waveform for a forward converter, especially if the design is run highly continuous (like it should be).
