Entering Toroid Core Data into PI expert component library

Posted by: perry_bakalos@… on

Hi, I want to use a Kool Mu Toroid core for a flyback design in PI expert. This is a bobbin-less flyback transformer design using a Toroid core which will be wound manually by hand. There are a few Bobbin data fields in the component library that i am not sure of what to enter in for data, such as:
1) Bobbin fit window
2) Winding width of bobbin
3) Bobbin area

I attached the spec for the Toroid Core that I want to enter into the Core library, it is a Kool Mu 60u 46.7 O.D. Toroid #77439.

I am not a magnetics design expert so am not completely familiar w/ these bobbin terms and how to equate the data from the Toroid spec. Can you help with some info on this issue? I appreciate...

thanks alot,

there is no easy way of entering this information into the atabase. Toroids typically have distributed air gaps whihc is different from Ferrite cores which need a discrete air gap. The software is just not setup to accept these cores at the moment.
