series and parallel connection of leds

Posted by: Osnirok on

Hi,

My question is not direct related about led drivers, but I think some one can share some ideas.
In some applications is useful to use many leds of low current in serie, and then to put this series of leds in paralell.
What kind of caution we need to take to parallel leds? I see some pictures of T8 tubes for example that it seems to have four paralell long strings strings of leds using a single driver.
Thanks

The problem with this is that when one or more of the led in series got shorted, the remaining LEDS should not get damaged due to increase in current in that branch. People usually put series resistors in each branch to lessen this problem.
