LNK304 application

Posted by: huser on

Hi,

Is a single rectifier diode S1M sufficient for such a circuit design, see file 'LNK304.png?
Is a ultrafast diode US1J sufficient for such a circuit design, see file 'LNK304.png?
The ambient temperature can be up to 80°C.

S1M is not advised due to high reverse recovery. US1J should be enough ratings wise. Just be sure to provide adequate heatsinking for the required ambient temperature.
You can also check the newer LNK-TN2 releases as these are newer iterations of the same IC. See link: https://ac-dc.power.com/products/linkswitch-family/linkswitch-tn2/.

I do not know whether I have understood your answer right way.
Do you mean that the S1M, which is used for single phase rectification at the input should be higher rated regarding reverse voltage capability?
Can occur transients more than 1000V at this single phase rectification diode?

Sorry for that, I did not notice right away. YES. S1M for single phase rectification and US1J as buck diode will be sufficient for this design.
