Low cost - LED driver

Posted by: geraldo.gomes on

Hello,

I need some tip or guide to design a low cost 6W constant-current LED-driver.

I noted that, in general, transformer is a big source of cost, so I'm searching for

something like LNK306 that I can switch the mains power directly on the inductor,

without transformer to reduce the costs.

Requirements:

Input: 90-250 AC

Output: 6W with constant-current

Someone have a design like this?

Hi,

Please check RDR-355 if it fits your requirement. The EE10 transformer can be replaced by a drum core.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, this power supply that you sugested me fits very well to my requirementes.

Do you have another design to the following requirements:

Low cost, without transformer

Input: 90-250 AC

Output: 9W with constant-current

Thanks.

I can't find an existing design but you can try to push LYT-0 to 9W by using higher VOUT. Output regulation over line may not be good but this is the closest design for a wide-range, transformer-less design.

what value of drumcore inductor can i use inplace of EE10 transformer.

Hi,

If your design is similar to RDR355, then the inductance used was 1.35mH. You can try 1.2mH or 1.5mH if you are using a drum core.

Hi..i don't have much experience but as per my knowledge RDR-355 if it fits your requirement. The EE10 transformer can be replaced by a drum core. Also if your design is similar to RDR355, then the inductance used was 1.35mH. You can try 1.2mH or 1.5mH if you are using a drum core.
