Conversion of 85-265VAC to 5VDC 100mA using LNK302/304-306

Posted by: Bhavan Kumar on

Hi,

We are using the LNK302DN link switch for AC to DC conversion in our application. We have referred the datasheet for design calculation in order to convert the 85-265VAC to a 5VDC, but there is only a application circuit which produces 12VDC. Kindly provide us the design calculation so that it'll be useful for our application.

Regards,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Bhavan.

Hello Bhavan,

Given your output current requirements, LNK302 is too small and will need to increase to at least LNK304. You can see the table detailing the ratings of each device size on page 1 of the datasheet.

For the calculations, I have made a PI XLS sheet using the LNK304 for your application of 85-265Vac, 5V/100mA. I will link it below:

While the LinkSwitch-TN is still and active product, since you are making a new design, I would recommend using the LinkSwitch-TN2 instead. This device is newer and currently has an RDR design that you can immediately apply for your application. I will link the RDR below for your reference.
