Wide range power supply
Dear!
We working with a power supply to work from 40VAC to 264VAC around 10-15W.
What family do you recommend for wide range power supply in this aria and what issues we should think about in the construction.

Hi,
You may want to visit our online design below.
It would guide you on what IC to use, topology, component values, etc..
Good morning sir
I am using your ultra wide range input power supply (18-265) AC/DC.
Instead of getting 5 volt output from your recommended transformer design, we change the turn of secondary winding for 12 volt output & in rcd snubber we use 2n2 1 kv Box capactior. But know our tny280 getting burst in heat on testing. Because of some reasons we cannot use fusible resistor you recommend in the design. So tell me why our ic is getting burn, and also suggest a EMI filter for the smps.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
Good morning
Thanks for good input for the Power supply from 40VAC. Think we have a design now (Top 256). Start to made a prototype for test and hope the best!

Hi Alf,
Great, that is good to hear.
Hi Sourabh,
May I know which part of the IC is damaged? Do you have any waveform on why this is happening? What kind of testing you are performing?
Regarding the fusible resistor, you can use standard fuse in series with a thermistor to protect circuit from surge and inrush current. Regarding EMI you may send your circuit and data.
Regards.

This needs a from scratch design approach to work properly, a 2 stage resonant approach would cover the input range, a simple bridge rectifier on the input and a half bridge driver, driving the 2 stage resonant power topology, probably over a freq range of 80 - 180kHz, this gives the least stress on the o/p diodes.
