SMPS design using Linkswitch IC

Posted by: mahavar on

I am working on a project where I am required to design 12 volt DC power supply and current up to 8 amp. It is an AC to DC converter and I am using LNK6666E IC to design the supply. I have designed this prototype on a Zero PCB, the circuit works fine and output voltage is 12.60 volts but when I connect load to it(0.5 amp, 12 volt load), it fails to supply the current and the output voltage drops to zero.
The same circuit when I designed on a PCB it works fine and supplies current up to 7 amps.( An old PCB of a Flyback converter using linkswitch, the layout was almost same)
what are the possible reasons that it is not able to supply current when designed on a Zero PCB?
Thanks in advance

your layout is far too spread out - to work properly, you need the device nnear the Tx and good de-coupling nearby also ....

Thanks Easy peasy..
One more question, Should I change the track width as well,I have used normal jumper wire to make connections.

Hi Mahavar,
Thicker track width is better especially for traces with high current that flows through it. If you have provision for thicker track, the better.
