Problem with output current using TOP266

Posted by: TALLmen on

Hi!

We're developing the new power supply where try to use TOP266.

So, the output parameters are 24V, 2,5A, open frame.

The input is standard 85-265V 50Hz.

There is problem in working state. The output current is lower than should be. We got only 20-30 mA with load instead 2,5A.

The voltage without load - 28V.

We have checked PFC and it's okay. The optocoupler opened at 24V.

So, we don't know where we should look for problem... Could you advise?

Someone help me!

Hi TALLmen,

Thank for looking into our TopSwitch devices.

Can you send the TOPSwicth PIExpert design file using the latest version? I could not verify the correct details because of the error in conversion from old to new version.

With regards to the schematic and transformer construction, are you using the actual schematic as recommended by the PIExpert?

Regards,

PI-Picard

Dear Picard,

we're tring to make this design in new version of PI Expert now. For now you may check our design on the image in the attachment.

We used schematic as recomended PI Expert, but for transformer we made some small changes. Do you think that it's the reason of our problem with the output current?

Hi!

We have tried to launch this power supply. We connected pins C and V with resistor 200 KOhm. After this power supply was working 50-60 seconds with output voltage 24V and 1-1,5A, when something happened and it switched off.

We can't understand where the problem is...

Please, help!

Hi TALLmen,

My applogies for the delayed reponse. If you already have the new PIExpert done, can you share with me?

What if you remove the 200k resistor will it work? Are you familiar with the Application Note 47? You can find the explanation regarding the resistor between the Control and Voltage monitor pins under the sections discussing the Line Sense Resistor Values. You maybe triggering some protections.

Regards,

PI-Picard
