LNK6xxx series EMI Choke/Filter Diode values

Posted by: rejithcvcv on

Hi,

Iam designing 5A and 10A SMPS using LNK6xx6 and LNK6xx9 respectively. PI Expert shows common inductance, current and voltage ratings for both input EMI Choke and bridge rectifier (6mH,1.6A & 1A, 600v respectively ). Are those values appropriate for both designs. Please do explain.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi Rejith,

Thank you for choosing Power Integrations.

The voltage rating for the bridge rectifier will depend on your input voltage range. For highline designs up to 277Vac, 600V rated rectifiers are commonly used. Some designs use 1kV rated bridge rectifiers to withstand lighting surge applied to the input.

The current ratings on the other hand will depend on a number of factors. The total output power, the power supply efficiency and the design power factor. These 3 items basically determine the input current drawn by your power supply. You can assume a PF of 0.5 for non-PF corrected designs. From this you can calculate for the input current based on your output power and the target efficiency.

Hope this helps.

Hi Traveler

Thanks for the reply. I have successfully developed prototypes of the same. I have posted a new topic over the issues Iam facing with the PS right now. It is related to over load limiting property of the PS. Kindly, suggest solutions for them too,

Thanks & Regards
