Choosing an inductor for HiperPFS

Posted by: thrmack on

Hello,

I have used the PIXIS designer software to design a PFC boost-based backend, in order to add a buck LED driver to its output.

It has suggested the following PFC inductor:

LPFC140uH

LPFC (0 Bias)751uH

LPFC_RMS4,09A

LP_TOL10%

Inductor Construction Parameters

Core TypeSendustSendust

Core MaterialAuto125u

Core GeometryAutoTOROID

CoreAuto77548(OD=33.8)

AE65,6mm^2

LE81,4mm

AL127nH/t^2

VE5340cm^3

HT11,43mm

MLT42,7mm

BWN/Amm

NL77

LGN/Amm

ILRMS4,09A

Wire typeLitzLitz

AWG40AWG

Filar170

OD0,079mm

AC Resistance Ratio1,10

I was thinking if I could use an off the shelf inductor, like this one

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bourns-inc/2300LL-151-V-RC/2300LL-151-V-RC-ND/725912

It has almost the recommended specs in inductance and current.

Regards,

Thiago

for PFS operation, the inductance at 0 bias current also impact the operation in each cycle, particularly near the zero crossing of each cycle. the specs does not have the inductance at 0 bias. You can try it.

Great, thanks. I´ll ask the manufacturer about the inductance at zero bias.

Hi,

It is quite difficult to find standard inductors depending on the design.

Could you suggest a custom inductor manufacturer?
