0,5W PSU for 400VAC input

Posted by: MTe on

Hello,

I've been using the Linkswitch LNK304 with success in creating a small transformeless PSU, with 230 VAC and 5 VDC output, output current being less than 100 mA.

Now I would like to make similiar, small and preferably transformeless PSU for 400 VAC input.
I can't seem to find anything from LinkSwitch-family.

Any ideas for the design or at least what IC I should use?

BR,
Mikko

Hi Mikko,

Thank you very much for using Power Integrations product particularly LNK304. As per LinkSwitch-family currently 400VAC input capable IC is not yet available. InnoSwitch-EP particularly INN2904K can be used 484VAC but such IC is for greater than 20W application and uses a transformer for the overall design. However you may want to check and consider. Hope this helps.

Hi LeoDavinci,

Thank you for your response.

Using a transformer would surely solve my problem, but would make the circuit far too large.
I'll think I figure some other way to step down the primary voltage before feeding it to the good ol' LNK304.

Thank you and have a nice day,
Mikko
