Where is PSU app note for Class D amplifier supply?

Posted by: treez on

Hello,

Please could you advise where is the powerint.com app note for the offline SMPS for Class D amplifier supply? I saw this  a few years ago on the poweringt.com site but now can't find it.

It was basically an ON/OFF controller.

Hi,

That was probably removed, because the device related to  that app note is no longer made.

If you can send me your power supply specifications, I can suggest you a suitable device.

Hello,

Thanks for getting back, the power is 320W.

Vin = 90-265VAC

vout = +40V/0/-40V

iout = 4A

Its a class D  Amp supply so it wont be on that max power all the time.

please may I ask if you may have any archived copies of that schematic of the dual flyback class d amplifier supply?

Hello,

Please note that the PKS607YN was used in the 200W burst mode SMPS for class D amplifier.

Here are the application notes from powerint.com.

Might there be any problems with a burst mode (or on/off controlled) SMPS at 200W?

Thanks,

Is it possible to simply just use the TFS7701H as a high side gate driver bias supply for SMPS's that need a high side bias supply?......the TFS range have rather high rds(on) for my liking, but i'd still like to use the internal high side gate driver bias supply for a 2 transistor forward converter with vin = 390v?

Hi,

It is not possible to use TFS as a driver alone.

Which MOSFET are you comparing it to? Is the MOSFET  current rating same as TFS MOSFET current rating?

RDS on of the TFS device might be same or little higher when comapared to discrete MOSFETS, but the paracitic capacitances of the TFS MOSFETS are very low compared to the external dicerete MOSFETS. SO when you look at the figure of merit TFS might be a better option.

If you want lower RDS on you can go for bigger TFS device.

If you are concerned about efficiency, you can use HiperLCS device to get better efficiency.
