Power supply reliability tests.

Posted by: kmohan.np on

Hi,

How to test the power supply reliability.

High voltage across Drain, clamp network will affect input bulk Low ESR Electrolytic filter capacitor of voltage rating 450V.

Which will improve power supply reliability either using Low ESR electrolytic capacitor or general purpose electrolytic capacitor.

Mohan

Hi,

I am sorry I am sure I really understand your question. You are talking about the bulk capacitor after the bridge, right? Basically the thermal performance is better with lower ESR capacitor, which will improve the life time of the capacitor.

Hi,

Yes it is absolutely correct. Due to better thermal performance of Low ESR capacitor, using Low ESR capacitor after the bridge is right choice.

The capacitor used after the bridge of voltage rating will be 400-450V, will affected by Drain voltage or clamp circuit, since Drain voltage will be more than 500V.

And my another question is ’’How test the power supply reliability.’’

Thank you

Regards,

Mohan

Hi,

Generally the reliable tests is related to operate the power supply under different temperatures (cold and hot),  operation under faults conditions (short output, short components), operation under harsh environments...and so on.

Hi Terry,

Thank you very much for your information on Power Supply reliable tests.

We perform Burn-in test with maximum temperature 55°C for a duration of 24Hrs with rated full load.

The Low ESR filter capacitor of rating 450V used after the bridge will affected by Drain or clamp network voltage, since it will be more than 500V .

Mohan
