Extremely wide input range.

Posted by: baldigab on

Good morning.
I've to design a power supply with the following requirements:
INPUT:V_in_min = 12 Vdc V_in_max = 350 Vdc
OUTPUT:V_out = 5 Vdc I_out = 0.6 A
So, it's a very wide input range, as you can see. I've thought to a flyback or to a Buck configuration. Do PowerInt have a chip with integrated switch suitable for this application? I saw this solution:http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/di152.pdfbut it doesn't meet the lower input voltage...
Thank you very much.

Hi,

DI152 is a very good reference design for your application, even the minimum input voltage is higher than your application. You could use the same idea, but the startup circuit has to be adjusted to get a constant current into the BP pin with the lowest input voltage, which is 12V dc for you case.

Ok. Can you suggest a way to do this? It is sufficient to adjust the zener VR2 in DI-152?

Yes, please try that.
