Three Phase Utility Meter Ultra-Wide Power Supply with output of 5Vand 3.3V (1A)

Posted by: bilal2929 on

I need to design a circuit for Three Phase Utility Meter Ultra-Wide Input with following outputs (5 V and 3.3V /  1A). For this i saw a document which has 12V/250mA output.(di124.pdf). How i can modify this circuit to obtain 5V and 3.3V with combined ability of 1A. In PI software there is no option for three phase inputs. Help me in this regards.

If you do a search in our forums for "StackFET" you should get the information you need.

Use the PI Expert software as you normally would and then implement the StackFET topology afterwards.

The StackFET topology uses an additional MOSFET in series between the drain pin and the transformer to protect the IC from the higher input voltages.

Here is one link about StackFET:

I didnot find any option to convert my attached schematic into stackFET option. I have to do it manually ? Schematic is attached herewith. I have already seen stackFET schematic but dont know how to implement stackFET into my attached achematic. There must be some components changed in current attached schematic if i used three phase input section of stackFET in my current attached schematic ?

Thanks.

There is an option of topology but i cant edit that option to stackFET. Snap shot is attached herewith

StackFET isn't implemented in the PI Expert software.

The easiest way to create a StackFET design is to use PIXLs and manually enter Vmin and Vmax in the spreadsheet.  Interate the design as you normally would in PIXLs.  You will get some errors about the peak drain voltage being too high but you can ignore those.  When you go to create your schematic and PCB layout, you'll add the extra StackFET components as shown in the link I sent you earlier.

we need Three-phase input 3W switching power supply using StackFET

for our Meter

I will apreciate any support

Hi ruben.sanchez,

Thank you for your interest of using Power Integrations' part.

Regarding your question, I have below link of 3W stackFET design for your reference.

https://ac-dc.power.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/di124.pdf

If you want to check for more reference, visit below link of different designs for metering applications.

If you want design that doesn't need stackFET, we have Innoswitch-EP which is 900V rated which is ideal for input as high as 484Vac.  Thank you.
