Power Supply designing

Posted by: OZAN on

Hi,

I designed a PSU. In my design, the outputs are   Vo =36 V and Io=1,4 amps. I used PI Expert and i choose TOP266, and i select openframe instead of adapter selection. However, after I ordered the transformer, i recognize my mistake:

P = 36 x 1,4 =  50,4 W

For TOP266,

max.power of adapter selection is : 40 W

max.power of open frame selection is : 86 W

For TOP267,

max.power of adapter selection is : 55 W

max.power of open frame selection is : 103 W

So can i use TOP267 intead of TOP266 in the same desing according to TOP266?

how do you want to use your design?   in open frame or adapter?

We want to use adapter form.

I understand now

You can not just replace the TOP266 for a TOP267  But it may be possible to have a simple solution.  Depends on the actual design.

Do you have a resistor connected between the  X pin of the TOP266 and PRIMARYRETURN or you are connecting directly the X pin to PRIMARYRETURN?

I suggest you post your schematic and your PI expert files for the transformer design , then we can run some calculations and try the simplest solution that works for you.
