non-isolated winding w/ TOP JX

Posted by: cjf3 on

I am doing a design for a universal input flyback where the main power output is 15V and is NOT isolated from the primary side. Can I combine this output with the bias winding output to simplify my transformer? If so, is there anything special I need to do?

Hi,
I don't see any problem combining the output winding and bias winding. You can use AC stacking.

I am not talking about "combining" the winding w/ a stacked secondary but getting rid of the bias winding and using my main output winding for both my power and for powering the TOP switch. this savea transformer winding and I also should be able to replace the optocoupler circuit w/ a transistor circuit.

I also have a data sheet question for the TOPSwitch-JX part. I seems to me the the picture of the different packages in fig #2 don't match the pin-outs of fig #4. Which is correct?

Hi,
Sorry for misunderstanding your question. You can use output winding for dual function.

Please follow fig 4 for pin-outs.
