LNK564 power supply shut down

Posted by: aleticia on

I´m using LNK564 to 12V/120mA power supply. In 127V input it works fine but not with 220V. After some time the output turns off. I test input thermal fuse and inductor and they are fine. When the output shuts down I measure LNK564 drain voltage and the its mosfet turns off (I measure 350V at Vds). Could you guide me what tests should I do? I´m using 32kohms and 3kohms resistors to adjust the output voltage. Thanks

It sounds like your controller is going into thermal shutdown. Have you checked the IC temperature while running at 220V?

Hi,
Yes I measure the IC temperature but it was cold. Today I reduce resistor divider to 30,3k and 3k and it works all right.

Where were you measuring the IC temperature?
How long was the power supply running at 220V before shutting down?
Was it regulating correctly at 220V?
