ISSUE REGARDING HEATING TOP 247/249 YN

Dear PI,
We designed a powe supply using top 247/249 YN switch in flyback for output 50v @3A.But top switch is too heating at even 2A load and after some time it goes to thermal shut down, the schemetic is attached Pls help us.

It,s a open frame design and we are using hearsink compound / tape betweenTOP249Yand heatsink and What should be tne interface and surface area of heatsink pls reply .

From your schematic, seems like you have 1.5 inch heat sink. If this is correct I think this is too small. I would try doubling the heatsink.
Can you send me snapshot of your layout?

Hi,
Is it an adapter or open frame design? What interface do you have between heatsink and TOP249Y? My first suspicion is not very good interface or not enough heat sinking.
