I Need a Buck topo at 550mA

Posted by: will.friesen@f… on

Application Note AN-37 is very helpful.  The Linkswitch TN 360 is just a little bit too small.

What part/part series would you recommend for a 550mA Buck?

I need more information about your design requirements before I can address your question.

Figure 1(a) shows an input inductor, L-in.  Later on in the ap note, table 9, it says that when the total power is greater than one watt, L-in should be selected between 470 and 2200 uH.  I see no mention/formula for sizing this inductor.

Is the primary function of L-in for EMI, or is there an efficiency advantage in the LinkSwitch?

If the sole function relates to EMI, I can do my own math to create a band pass filter.

If there is another purpose, what should I be looking for in order to optomise the supply.

Lin is for EMI purposes.  It's is part of the pi filter network formed with Cin1 and Cin2.

If you can give me some additional specs, I'd be happy to make other recommendations.
