DPA 425R , 40-60 V input the converter is not starting

Posted by: prev on

Hi,

I have developed Multiple Output 22Watts, 20-60V DC Input using DPA 425R, Isolated Outputs are +12V, -12V, +5V and +24V. During 40-60 v input the converter is not starting.

But when operating from 20v it is starting, and by varying 20 to 60 it is OK

During 40-60 v input the converter is not starting. Please suggest me to solve.

Thanks

Can you send in your PI Expert design files, schematic and layout please?

Dear Traveler,

I have attached the schemmatics, Transformer winding details.
After changing R7, X pin Resistor to 12K it is now starting at 20 volt, but the 24V output designed for 500mA is taking upto only 170ma, i want at least 350ma load current required.

Please help me to improve the 24 volt loading effect.

I'm not sure if we're looking at the same schematics...

From the documentation you've sent me:
Output 1: +14V @ 0.1A
Output 2: -14V @ 0.1A
Output 3: +26V @ 0.2A
Output 4: +5V @ 0.5A

It then looks like you're using linear regulators for some post regulation...but the 26/24V output is only rated for 0.2A (per your documentation) so I'm not sure where you're getting the 0.5A figure from except possibly your 5V output.

Also, as your control loop is tied only to the 5V output, regulation on your other outputs is going to be someone loose.

Did you design this using our PI Expert software?

Hi Traveler

Thanks for reply, Sorry for wrong upload of schemmatics,

Now i have attached the appropriate circuit diagram. In all the earlier designs we follow only +5V Feedback Regulation.

Yes this design was done by PI Expert software and in fact it was given by one of the PI local design team.

Please help to sort out the loading effect.

Thanks

I'd really like to see the PI Expert design files if possible. Any chance you can send those or put me in contact with the representative from Power Integrations that helped with the design?
