CC/CV Implementation

Posted by: powerfly on

I implemented CC/CV with LM358 dual opamp and TOP246YN with DN-14 as reference. The current limit is set to 1.18A.
The Power supply limits the current to exactly 1.18A, voltage drops from 22.5V to 19.5V.
But one oddity I noticed is - it makes an Audible "chhk...chk" noise approximately every second. You have to be close to hear it.
Is this normal?

Hello powerfly,

I do not expect something really wrong with this behavior. Check if the auto restart is triggered or if the output load goes into startup-shutdown mode, hence output current changing from low to high values.

How do I check those - If auto restart is triggered or if the load goes into startup-shutdown mode?

Hello powerfly,

Use a current probe and check if the output current has big steps up and down. For auto-restart conditions, see the drain voltage.
