810PG PFC Start Trouble

Posted by: JerryBaker on

HELP PLEASE
When the GATEP turns on at about 80VAC input, it is a DC output that turns on the PFC MosFet and shortly blows my fuse. If I cut the drain of the PFC MosFet when the AC gets to about 200VAC the LCC Starts the supply works fine.
I verified everything and I just can not figure out what causes the GATEP output
to not have a signal. Outside of the brown out circuit and VCC comes from a LNK304 the circuit is the same as the RDR189
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you.
Jerry

Please check the PFC current sense circuit.
The HiperPLC needs to see the current for it to operate properly.

Can you post the schematic?

PI-Tucker,
I will check this again. Attached is the schematic.
Thank you.

PI-Tucker,
I have verified that the ISP pin is going negative about 50mv per Amp.

That means about a 10A current limit. That's for a >500W PSU.
What is your output rated power?

Is your choke's saturation current >10A? If not, this could be your problem.
Increase your PFC sense resistor value or redesign your choke.

The MOSFET gate input "DC" at startup is normal, because on the first turn on oykse, the PLC810 waits for current limit before terminating the pulse.

PI-Tucker,
The power supply is 300W. I will use the sense resistors from the RD189 sample board and it's inductor. I have used my pfc inductor on the RD189 with good results. Thank you for the information, I will confirm all of suggestions carefully. Thank you for your quick response.

PI-Tucker,
Your assistance was helpful, I just wanted to report that I had corrected this problem. My PFC Drive transisters E & B were reversed.
How do I delete my attachment?
Thank you.
