no load / stby power

I use a TOP258 which consumes too much stby power (when disabled). Is there a similar part available that consumes near to 0 drain current when disabled?

I spoke to you on the phone about biasing the device through the Control pin during shutdown. You may be able to use the same control signal that turns off the device to turn on the bias to the Control pin. This way there will not be any interaction of the added bias and the operation of the TopSwitch when the device is running.

I don't think it was me you spoke to on the phone - however can you elaborate on your idea? I tried grounding the C pin on the TOP258 (shorting C to S) but that does not work: power consumption goes up. Do you mean disconnect the C pin to disable power consumption?

Bias the Control pin with 500 uA via a transistor when the X pin transistor (used to shutdown the topswitch) is off. This will allow the topswitch to operate normally without any additional bias.
