desktop computer power supply

Posted by: bren on

Hello! I am planning to design a SMPS for the CPU of the desktop computers with total power of around 350VAS, 500VA and 600VA. What TOPswitch device should i use? Do you have reference designs for this?

Hi There, Top Switches are optimal for using in Flyback designs and the ratings are below 300W. It still could be possible designing for higher power ratings but because of component limitations it needs special considerations and is not recommended. For your higher power designs a boost topology would be more convenient. Top Switch cannot be a good candidate for your high power designs. PI-Janeway

Typical configuration is PFC Boost front end then single ended or two switch forward (dependent on efficiency rating) for HV DC to LV DC stage (12 V and 5 V outputs, with mag amp from 5 V to 3.3 V).

As PI-Janeway mentioned our current products are not suitable.
