TOP/TINY core shapes vs DPA core shapes

Posted by: cabedikes on

Hi,

Why PIExpert uses some core shapes for TOP/TINY designs and other core shapes for DPA designs ?

I'd like to use an EF20 core for a DPA design, but for PIExpert this core shape is 'Low frequency'

If finally I use the EF20 core shape, is expected that I find any remarkable problem ?

Thank you very much for your assistance

Hi.

There is no inherent problem in using EF20 on DPA switch. We default to a different library because we can use cores with less creepage/clearance for electrical safety. These cores on many low voltage applications commonly offer better performance on a smaller space

Having said that feel free to try out designs with any core.
