Non-isolated solution for LED driver

Posted by: Pramod P on

we are using a non-isolation design based solution for mid power LED driver,

here if the internal MOSFET fails, the controller will be short. so the O/P voltage of bridge rectifier will very high

and the same voltage will flow towards LED . there is chances of LED failure.

How can we avoid this issues.

Note: in this case Non-Isolated design is mandatory

Hi,

This condition is true for any buck converter. Using buck-boost or boost topology will prevent the bulk voltage from flowing to the output.

If you have to use buck topology, you need to size the fuse so that it will protect the load when the FET is shorted. You can try a fast-blow fuse.
