Required help for design (18V,10A) smps for PM DC motor application

Posted by: parersh.joshi on

i require 18V,10A smps for supply power to Permanant magnet Dc motor.

input volt range is 110VAC15%tollerance/60HZ,i was designed one smps using PI Expert software.software selected TOP271EG device .design optomized but show 2 errors-1)Drain voltage close to BVDSS at maximum OV threshold. 2)Estimated clamp voltage is too high. please suggest me which device i will use for this application.starting inrush current is 60A for 450ms.

accepting quick responce

using TOP271 may not be a bad choice. if Vds is high, you can choose to lower the Vor, or using slamp components in real design and verify on bench. many design examples on our website has the clampe circuit and all of them can manage the lower the Vds to acceptable range. you can use in rush limitor such as NTC to lower down the in rush current. sometime the MCU for motor control can smooth the start up as well which is beyond our IC.
