RDR 838 reference design implementation

Hi,
I am trying to implement the reference design RDR 838 which gives multiple output voltages. How will be able to trigger these different voltages at the output?

Hi,
Thank you for clearing my doubt.
Hi,
I am hesitant to charge my device initially with the charger. Could you recommend an alternative method to monitor the voltage and current supplied by the charger?

Hi Pawdevs,
Thank you for reaching out to Power Integrations for your interest in our devices.
The triggering of the different output voltages is based on the negotiation between the sink(load such as cellphones) and the source(power supply). This is done through the pins CC1 and CC2 or called as the Communication Channels 1 and 2.
Upon connection of a load, InnoSwitch3-PD automatically:
1. Identifies the connected device
2. Broadcasts signature identifying its circuit as a source (power supply)
3. Detects and interrogates EMCA cable to determine current capability (E-mark for active cables)
4. Broadcasts its capabilities, PD(power delivery) and or PPS(programmable power supply)
5. Recognizes and supplies power to active cable on correct CC1/CC2 rail
RDR 838 uses APDO(augmented power delivery object) for its first setpoint (highest voltage) and PDO for the next four setpoints. This means that the APDO output advertises its min/max voltage and its max current capability, while the PDO broadcasts that it can supply several fixed voltages.
Take note that the InnoSwitch3-PD has already a built-in firmware.
Thank you.
