LNK3294G Buck converter Design with Uin < 60VDC

Posted by: info@agil-elek… on

We have designed a buck converter with Input Voltage 100- 350VDC and only a few mA on 12 V Output with LNK3294G.
This works very well. Now we need an Input voltage down to 25VDC in this design.
Minimum Drain voltage is given in Data sheet with 60V.
When we tried to use our design with 25V DC it also works well. Why is the minimum drain voltage defined to 60V?

Best regards Andreas

Hi,

Could you please tell me which part of the datasheet you're referring to? I did a quick search and could not find the 60V specification that you mentioned. Thanks.

Hi,

it is on page 14 of the data sheet " Drain Pin Supply Voltage" min = 50V.

Best regards

Hi,

While the IC may work as you have mentioned in your design, the spec in the datasheet is a guarantee that it should function properly and within expectations when the drain voltage is at least 50V. Below that, it may or may not work. I hope this helps.
