Innoswitch3-pro input voltage measurement

Posted by: maxFuchs on

Hey,
is there any chance to read the input voltage with the PIC controller on the RDK-641 InnoSwitch™3-Pro Reference Design Kit. As far as the datasheet of the chip states, that the input voltage is measured, but is it accessable via a register ?
Thanks a lot for the help

Hello Max
Thank you for using our product. With InnoSwitch3-Pro, the input voltage is monitored to check for line Under voltage and over voltage conditions. The value of input voltage, however, is not accessible through the PIC controller. In case you can provide us with some information on how the input voltage would be used and on its accuracy requirement, we might be able to help you better.

Hey,
thank you for your fast reply. We want to sense signals on the input voltage to control the output voltage for a load. We would need to have a accuracy to resolve signal deviations of 1V @ ~300V DC. The measurement would need a sampling rate of about 20ms. Would be awesome if there is a chance of receiving these values. The Converter is used with DC input.

Hello Max,
The input voltage is not accessible on the secondary side. Based on the values measured such as output voltage, SR FET Drain voltage and transformer turns ratio, the input voltage can, however, be estimated.

Hey,
i know how to access the output voltage though, but in which register can i read the SR FET Drain voltage ?
Thanks a lot for your help

Hi Max
The SR FET Drain voltage is not accessible via a register. An external circuit would be required for this.
