TOP247YN: 12V/19V Battery Charger 18650???
Hello,
I would like to develop a DC-DC converter with 12V or 19V input and several 5V outputs
To power the TP4056 controllers (up to 1A current) for 18650 battery charging.
TP4056 Datasheet:
https://dlnmh9ip6v2uc.cloudfront.net/datasheets/Prototyping/TP4056.pdf
I would like 4 outputs of 5V, these outputs should be floating as the batteries will be connected in series.
I would like to know if the TOP247YN can operate with power of 19V,
No high isolation is required between the secondary,
There is no need for isolation of one of the secondary, which can be monitored for return without opto coupler.
Note: I know that there are load balanced circuits, but after several months this type of charger with balancer is deficient in balancing.
Please note the attached image, any suggestions?

Looking further at the operation description of the TOP247YN control pin, I have found that this pin should operate at up to 9V and above 4.8V. The attached image has been updated with the addition of the protection step so that the TOP247YN power supply is below 9V and startup with the 1k Ohms resistor.

Hi RTEK1000,
Thank you for inquiring about PI product. We have not tried our TopSwitch operating in such very low input voltage. The IC is initially power-up from a current source connected in between the drain and control pin. Once DC input voltage is applied to DRAIN (D) pin at start-up,the MOSFET is initially OFF, the CONTROL (C) pin capacitor charges through an internal current source connected between the DRAIN and CONTROL. Once it charges to 5.8V, the IC will enter into soft-start and it will obviously consume power. The 12V input might not be enough to supply it especially when your output is in loaded condition. Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for answering,
In fact, yesterday, I tried to feed this way the TOP247YN and it really did not work.
Is there any other model similar to TOP2xxYN that works directly with the control pin?
Hi RTEK1000,
You may check with our DPA-Switch if this can fit your design specs.
