RDR-506 - BOM Replacement parts

Posted by: Jérome FERNAGUT on

Hello,

I'm going to use the Reference Design RDR-506 to build an SMPS, 12V output @ 120mA

I checked all the components and they're all available at my usual supplier except one, reference D3 - ES1JE-TP from Micro Commercial.
Could you please give me an equivalent part for this one ?
I guess, reading the AN70, that a UF4005 will be equivalent, but i'm not sure.
It's difficult to me to be sure of what component i have to use because for this kind of SMPS (12V/120mA), you suggest two kind of schematics for the same voltage and power, but whith differents components ...
So I prefer you confirm me it's possible to replace D3 in RDR-506 with UF4005 before finalising my schematics.

Regards.

Hi Jerome,

Thank you for choosing Power Integrations product.
UF4005 could actually work but the device package is different
When choosing the rectifier we usually consider cost.

For a wide range input voltage of 85 - 265 VAC the peak of maximum rectified AC is around 375V. A 600V 1A rated diode is usually enough, you can also have a 1000V 1A diode.

For the computations you can our PI expert online tool.
