LNK-PH minimal input voltage

Posted by: Alexandr Zheukhin on

Hi everybody, could you inform me about minimal input voltage for LNK-HP. We need to create up to 100W PSU series with working voltage from 40 V DC to 265 V AC. Or could anyone provide suggestion what PI IC better to use for this?
Thanks!

Hi Alexandr,

Thank you for showing interest on PI products. With regards to your inquiry about the LNK-HP minimum voltage, the typical minimum recommended is 90Vac. It can go below to around 75Vac but the device thermal will already suffer.

As per your inquiry about the 40Vdc-265Vac/100W design, we don't have any existing design with that input/output range. As for flyback design, our ICs is limited by maximum and minimum Ton (on-time), thus designing a transformer with that range would be a struggle. Also with 100W output running at 40VDC, the thermal management would also be very hard. We do have an existing product that probably can cater to this but this is a 2-stage design. This means that you need a front-end PFC then a DC-DC converter. You may want to check our HiperPFS and HiperLCS product that might able to meet your specification. Thank you.

If you will use voltage doubler, you can achive near 70...90 volts in minimum (in normal operation, when input voltage is high, voltage doubler must disconect)

Yes, that is a good suggestion. You can add a voltage doubler circuit and disable it at high input voltage probably at around 140Vac. Thank you.
