HiperLcs Family

Posted by: Subash chandra bose on

Hi Team,
I saw your design document of hiperLcs705 which you designed for 184W without using PFC. Will it work properly if i use PFC(Hiperpfs) instead voltage doubler?. And also my design spec are output voltage=19V, Output current =8A output power= 150W to 200W. Will the Hiperlcs705 support?. We wanted to use hiperLcs for our design so if you help us with the above queries ASAP.

Thanks,
Subash M

Hi Subash M

Thank you for your interest of using Power Integrations part.
Regarding your question, using Hiper-PFS on the input instead of voltage doubler is better. You can have wider AC input range with good Power Factor then better input to Hiper-LCS with regulated one compared with voltage doubler which varies with input voltage. With fixed PFC output regulation to 380V, you can extend the output power of that design. You can even use smaller hiper LCS702 with your specs. It just needs to be a bigger size Hiperlcs705 on the 184W design since it needs to support 250V input when at low line. Thank you.

Ok thank you. And will you guys support us if we proceed our work using hiperlcs702?

Do you any simulation software to analyse the steady state and transient response of the circuit?

Hi Mallora,
I work in burndy technologies(Hubbell India) which is located in Chennai. Please check with FAE group and let me know. I previously referred this document and it closely matches our requirement since it is also for battery charging applications. Is spreadsheet enough to design and proceed to hardware implementation directly without simulating the actual circuit?

Hi Subash M,

Yes you can directly implement that. The spreadsheet will give you all the details you need on your design. You need to do separate design for PFC and LCS. Your PFC output should be around 380V then it will be your input to be used on your LCS design. I'm looking for our local FAE in India. I'll let you know once I have the person who will communicate with you. Thank you.

Hi Mallora,
As suggested, I will do separate design for PFC and LCS. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi Mallora,
Did you find your local FAE in India. And will you provide footprints and sch library for hiperlcs702 and hiperpfs3 7527 for altium software?

Ok thank you. And how about library files of hiper ICs for altium designer software?
I have to draw schematic for that I need symbols and footprints library.

Hi Subash, You can find symbols and footprints for Altium (and other CAD formats) on the respective product pages: https://ac-dc.power.com/products/hiper-family/hiperlcs/ https://ac-dc.power.com/products/hiper-family/hiperpfs-3/ Attached is an example screenshot showing the place to download them. -PI-ODO
