Transformer options missing from list
Hello,
I am trying to create a 2.8W design with the lnk363 using a surface mount transformer about the same charactersitics as an EE13 but the transformers are not showing up in the list of possible values after creating the initial design. The transformers that I am considering are the ER9.5, ER11, ER14.5/6, EPC13, EPC17. These may be out of range but I am not seeing a way to know the relative power of the different cores to know what options I could actually choose from.
I am using the latest version of the PI Expert.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi,
This isn't about copying the EE13, this is about not seeing the surface mount transformers from the list of possible transformers. Is some special action required to see the surface mount transformers such as the ones mentioned ER9.5, ER11, ER14.5/6, EPC13, EPC17? I saw a setup setting check box that talks about surface mount transformers but selecting that still did not allow me to see the surface mount transformers.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the clarification.
The transformers from your list: ER9.5, ER11, ER14.5/6, EPC13, EPC17 are not available for the Link-XT family. By design, they belong to the following groups: LED (AC-DC), PFC, and Low Voltage DC-DC.
If you wish to use them for a Link-XT design, it is necessary to make copies as Custom in the Component Library (as noted in a separate thread) and re-open the design.

Hello Jason,
We cannot reproduce this issue. We created several custom transformers as a copy of the EE13 and created a Link-XT design for 5.6V/0.5A (2.8W). In the list of cores, we can see all of the default cores (including the EE13) as well as all of the custom ones based on EE13. We can select them for the design and see them in the BOM.
PI Expert selects the core automatically based on the power rating (TRAN_PMAX), but the user is free to select any other core from the list even if TRAN_PMAX is not enough.
