The problem of replace TOP223GN to TOP253GN

Posted by: TALLmen on

HI!

We're trying to update the AC-DC converter where we were using TOP223GN. In the new modification we want to apply the new series TOP253GN.

But the first tests showed that TOP253GN works bad in the wide range of input voltages 24V-50V-100V.

We're getting a noise and an unstable output parameters under conditions: 100V input, the circuit with feedback without correction.

In this case we should use filters and it's not good way for us.

In the attachment you may see our circuit at TOP223GN.

Could you advise how we should change this circuit for TOP253GN that it's work without problems?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tallmen,

May I ask if you did not modify anything in changing from TOP223 to TOP253? Is that same range of input voltages you were using for TOP223GN?

Can you advise the output voltage and current of your AC-DC converter?
What is the load condition during when you were getting the noise and unstable output parameters? Also, kindly clarify what do you mean by unstable output parameters and circuit with feedback without correction.

It would be nice if you have the captured waveform of the voltage and drain current during that condition. Please include the output current and voltage as well.

Hi PI-Picard,
We were not modifying the circuit for TOP253. It was the same as for TOP223.
The input range was the same - 30VDC to 200VDC.
The output parameters were 15V and 200mA.
" unstable output parameters" - Here, I meant that we had got a low frequency ripple(500Hz) of output voltage. Especially, at 100VDC on input.
As for images of waveforms, I don't have these on hand and it will be neccessary some time to get them.

Hi Tallmen,

Hopefully you can provide the drain waveforms (Vds\Idrain) and the output voltage at 100Vdc input.
