TynySwitch II - cross replacement ?
If I have simple power supply with TNY265 , any as reference design on Figure 14 Datasheet,
is possible during repair replace TNY265 more powerful version TinySW II , for example TNY268?
Comments
I would like to know if I can safely replace burn't TNY266 with TNY268? The main concern to me is lower RDS(ON). I also wanted to add a small heatsink, to protect it from failling again.
Failure of TNY266 is extremely common at Samsung WF-F1061 washing machine. I suppose it is responsible for overvoltage on the whole board, destroying great number of components after the power supply block. I suppose that the cause for that is improper cooling of that chip - it is coverd with some rubber-silicone-like material to protect it from moisture and dirt in the washing machine.

Thanks for Posting your question into forum. We would like to understand what exactly caused the TNY266 to failure, before replacing with TNy268 , we have to do design Validation. Do you have the transformer design for the original design, what are the input and output power specifications?

The PCB from the washing machine I was trying to repair died from some other problem on the board so I don't need the answer anymore. But If you are interested in the details of the situation, I would be glad to help.

I found the information of common TNY266 burning mainly in Eastern-European domestic appliance repairing forums. (Google keywords: TNY266, Samsung):

Site that describes the situation: http://supply.in.ua/remont/samsung-wf6450s7w.html (Google translate can translate it from Russian to English)
In the attachment there is:
- PCB shematic (I got that file from some unofficial interent site, main shematic is on the page 53)
- Original photos of the dead PCB (after removing blown input capacitor's dust, it is visible that TNY's drain pin is burnt)
P.S.
The TNY266 IC in my case was turned on for 3 years without break, becase the power off push button doesn't really turn the electronics off, and it haven't had any heatsink, it was sunken in some silicone-like material instead, so I suppose that's what caused it to fail.

As we don't have exact specifications and transformer design details for your issue , we suggest to replace TNY265 with the same part TNY265 .
