INN2023K/RDR-420 --- add second output?

Posted by: stormie on

Is it possible to add a second output to the RDR-420 if the power of both outputs is limited to 10W and only loose regulation of the second output is required? The PIXIs Designer doesn't seem to have an option for more that one output.

Hi Sarek,

Thanks for the reply.

Should I use a schottly diode for additional outputs or can I add another mosfet?

Thanks,

Stormie

You can actually use multiple MOSFETs. Since the FWD pin will be connected to the drain of one of the MOSFETs, the result wil be that synchronous rectification will be optimal for the MOSFET to which the FWD pin is connected. the second MOSFET operation will not be fully optimal however the benifit of synchronous rectification is still available. Both MOSFTs will be operated by the same SR output signal and the sources of both MOSFETs will be connected to the GND pin.

Note that the SR FET operation is still reliable with no possibility of cross conduction. This is the advantage of the InnoSwitch architecture.

Hope this helps.
