Replace TNY264G with TNY284D

Posted by: marten on

We have this old powersupply design with a TNY264G and this power supply has passed EMC tests before. TNY264G seems to be obsolete as it is listed under product archive. Is it possible to change this part to  TNY284D without having to change too much in the old power supply? I know the package has changed but that can be fixed. How about filtering and emissions, is a lot of work needed to get the new design to pass emissions requirements?

Hi, Let me check with our marketing team to see the obsolete status for this part. I will come back to you.

Thanks

Hi,

I checked with our marketing department.

There is no foreseen obsolesce on TNY-II now.

Our design is a product that is expected to have a long lifetime and component availability is important so we don't have to re-design the whole thing every third year or so. How long is it guaranteed that TNY-II will be in production or would it be better to change to the newer TNY-4 in this design? As TNY-4 is newer I guess it will be in production longer than TNY-II?

Hi,

Yes, we always recommand to use the latest version of the device which for sure will bring longer life time. Did you mean you already have an existing design with Tiny II, that you want to check if you can directly use tiny 4 with limited change? Would you please share with me the design of Tiny II if you have?

Thanks
