Integrating EP-33 with 3-phase power supply input.

Posted by: shrikantbj on

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have built an SMPS based on EP-33 (45 W LCD Monitor External Power Supply using TOP247Y). This works fine on 1-phase supply. Now I want to integrate it with 3-phase power supply i/p. Kindly let me know what modifications need to be made. The o/p remains same 12V @ 3.75A.

Regards,

Shrikant.

Hi,

Would you please let me know what is the voltage level of the 3 phase input? 110Vac, 220Vac, 380Vac?

The voltage i/p is 220VAC 3-phase.

Hi,

If I understand well, the original design is with 1 phase/220Vac, and you want to adjust the design with 3 phases/220Vac.

If this is the case, the bridge needs to be change to 3 phases, the bus capacitor can be decreased, and some EMC components possbilly needs to redesigned to meet the requirement. I would also recommand you to check what is the standard requirement in terms of the safety and EMI after you switch from 1 phase to 3 phase, you may need to adjust some other designs for example the transformers. You can use our PI-Expert software to help your design comparison.
