DI-124 Modifications
I am planning on modifying DI-124 for match our needs a little better. Most the changes are simple, like capactors with larger voltage and such, to reduce BOM lines. Others are more complicated and I would like some advice if these changes are valid before I start prototyping.
Change VR6 to ~4V zener to drop output voltage to 5V. I understand that I will have to adjust R11 and D10 to verify 5V output. Is this the correct way to go about this? Are there concerns with Transformer design that I have to change?
Switch U1 to LNK306D to increase current capacity (aiming for 5V at 2A or more). Valid?
Combine VR1-3 into a single 450V zener if possible. Does the Zener Voltage matter more here or the capacitance for driving the gate of Q1?
What is the voltage rating required for the R6-8 chain mentioned in the design idea?
Overall aiming for an isolated optocoupler feedback flyback design that can accept 85VAC to 480VAC and output 5V with at least 2A.
I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Worf,
I appreciate the quick reply!
In terms of using PIXL to verify, it does not seem to be able to handle the voltage range this design states. I have been trying with the software for some time now, it does not have good capability for anything above the general 265VAC. This may be because I cannot add the StackFET configuration to the Linkswitch-TN flyback design. Do you have any suggestions? Can I get the design process or files used for this specific Design Idea?
Let me investigate about it

Change VR6 to ~4V zener to drop output voltage to 5V
You can do that but your regulation will deteriorate. So, you need to check your regulation specs once the change has done.
Switch U1 to LNK306D to increase current capacity
Because LNK306 is a device with larger current limit, you need to check your transformer design to see if it goes into saturation with this larger ILIMIT. You can use PIXL to check your transformer’s design
Combine VR1-3 into a single 450V zener if possible
You can do that. The Zener voltage will determine when your FET conducts.
What is the voltage rating required for the R6-8 chain mentioned in the design idea?
I do not have access for the BOM of the design but the three resistor rating should be added up to be larger than VIN MAX + reflected voltage
