LCS700 - leakage inductance

Posted by: Jan Stejskal on

Good morning,

Can you help me with leakage inductance of the transformer EFD30 for LCS700. PI Designer counted leakage inductance about 160uH. I have produced a sample of the transfomer, but measured leakage inductance is only 65uH. Primary and secondary inductance is right.
How can I solve this problem?

Thank you for you advance

Jan

How much separation is there between primary and secondary?  Can you post a photo or sketch?

Also, enter 65 uH into PIXLS and see if it complains that it's too low.

The separation is 3mm it was counted by PIXLS. Photos are in attachment. If I fill in 65 uH into PIXLS it shows some WARNINGS. PIXLS is in attachment too.

Your core is oversized for the power thus the leakage inductance is too low.

If you can't use a smaller core, try increasing turns from 27:3:3 to 36:4:4.
