Hiper-famaly design problem
Hello/
I'm interested with Hiper-famaly product PFS728.
I want design PFC with input 185-250v AC and output 220v DC*3,5A max.
1. I'm not found ended referens desing with 700-800W output power.
2. I can't change some input data in PIXls Designer tool. (Hiper_PFS_Boost_042413; Rev.1.4; Copyright Power Integrations 2011).
3. I'm not found Hiper -famaly in PI Expert tool.
King regards,SaN.

1. Example is interest.
2. It's PI XLS Designer (ver. 9.0.5).
I was try to change this row to 220:
"8 VOut 385,00 V Nominal Output voltage"
I was find this problem in TI's online dsign tool too.
PFS not low cost IC and thats why i think it must have tool for design.
Sorry for my bad english/

Hi San,
Even though we do not support Hyper family with PIExpert tool, we do support Hyper family with PIxls tool.
And coming back to changing the output voltage to 220V on PIxls tool, Since HyperPFS is a Boost coverter you can only have output voltages higher than peak of your intput voltage at any given time. If you do need 220V on the output, you will have to use another buck regulator after the PFC stage to step down the output voltage to 220V.

Hello.
I'm sorry for my long reply. I'm really don't know that it's new message.
1. Ok. I agree. Back topology good for step-up voltage.
Any really problem when i use back topology with Vin>Vout?
2. I also use step-down topology (tranz.+diode+induc.+cap.). But it's haven't PFC function.
SaN.
Hi San,
Let me repeat what I understand from your question.
Specifications: 1.Input Voltage 185VAC-250VAC 2.Output Voltage 200VDC, 3.5A 3.You want to have power factor correction
Solution:
1.You can use hyperPFS power factor correction for the the given input voltage range 2.With any boost converter your output voltage will be greater than peak of your input voltage 3.so in your case, PFC stage output will be at around 380vDC 4.Inorder to get 220VDC from 380VDC you need to use another DC-DC stage 5.if u need isolation from the AC input you can use full wave bridge rectifier to convert 380VDC to 220VDC 6.If you don't need any isolation you can use simple buck reegulator after the PFC stage 7.So that your PFC stage converts (185VAC-250VAC) to 380VDC and your buck regulator converts 380VDC to 220VDC
I hope this answers your question.

1. In attach.
2. I can't correct output voltage. May be it only sample design!
SaN
hiperPFS uses boost converter.
For boost converter:
Vo > VACmax x 1.414
VACmax = 250 VAC
250 * 1.414 = 354 V
Vo > 354 V
You cannot have Vo = 220 VDC.
To have Vo = 220 VDC, you must use additional converter:
250 VAC -> PFS -> DCDC -> 220 VDC
Have PI any solution functionaly as ON's NCP1652?
It's very good topology. PFC+flyback in one.
SaN
Sorry, no.

Hi,
Please find the design example report for 900W design at following location.
http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/der274.pdf
Could you please send me your PIxls file? And could you please specify what are the input parameters that you are unable to change?
We are not supporting the Hiper family in PIExpert tool becuase some limitations with PIExpert tool.
